We’re looking for Volunteer Bus Drivers with a D1 license to help elderly and isolated our members in our community We operate an 8 passenger mini-bus on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays to transport our older members to and from our day centre. The bus would run from 9:00am to 11:00am in the mornings, and then from 2:30pm to around 5:00pm in the afternoons. Any capacity to volunteer for a shift on those times would be wonderful. Complimentary lunch is provided for all volunteers

Some of our members report that having a ride in the bus with the driver is a highlight of their week! Furthermore, our charity’s bus drivers have proven to be exceptionally talented and true community leaders, whose driving and vehicle expertise, problem solving skills, sense of humour, and community focus are admired. Many of our charity’s drivers have also mentored younger volunteers in adult social care and transportation roles. We deeply value the driving and community service expertise of our drivers and the experience they bring to our operations.

To provide an overview of our organisation, our charity is called Deptford Mission, located on 1 Creek Road, London. Our organisation operates a day centre three days a week that provides social activities and community support for older persons in the community. We run a shuttle bus service that transports older persons to our centre, where they can enjoy a three-course lunch, coffee and tea service, and activities such as bingo, musical classes, chair yoga, and occasional local outings.
